JUST LOOK AT IT First impressions are important. They tell you the Sportster is a high quality specialist sports car, handbuilt by an established company that cares about quality of design and build. And other people’s first impressions will tell them you chose a car that is still in touch with the experience of driving. With all the excitement, exhilaration and pure fun that you can’t find in today’s mainstream cars.
THE INSIDE STORY Should you really need to have surgery just to get in and out of a sports car? We say no. Wide-opening doors let you slide easily into a roomy cockpit that has everything just where you need it – but still leaves you room to breathe. And there’s space behind the seats for the hood and luggage, plus an optional rack. This is a sports car you can actually enjoy in the real world.
REAL SPORTS CAR POWER If you like statistics, try 321bhp from the 3.2-litre M3 EVO engine, which in the 800kg Sportster gives a power-to-weight ratio of around 400bhp/tonne. And if you like driving, just experience the straight-line acceleration (0-60 in under four seconds, if you’re still counting), or move smoothly and effortlessly up and down through the gears on a twisty B-road. This isn’t just driving – this is Sportster driving!
REAL SPORTS CAR HANDLING It’s not easy getting the balance right between handling and comfort of ride. Try driving a car that was really designed for circuit use and you’ll know it’s no fun at all on the road. But Marlin start with a perfectly weighted chassis, fit sophisticated, purpose-designed suspension components and then fine-tune it with expertise that is uniquely their own to produce a perfect balance of performance and comfort.
DO WHAT YOU WANT Only the dedicated would use a Sportster for everyday transport (and some do!), but that doesn’t mean it’s limited. The Sportster’s open cockpit is perfect for that sunny Sunday afternoon blast – and the space behind the seats means you can take a picnic too. Or luggage for a more adventurous touring holiday. And proper weather equipment means you’re not scared of a few clouds. There’s even a heater for chilly alpine roads!
A QUESTION OF RACE Like all true sports cars, the Sportster has a racing pedigree. Marlin’s first adventures in motorsport were with a Sportster, which we took hillclimbing and circuit racing in the 750 Motor Club kit car series. So, whether you want a roadcar that will give more expensive machinery a run for its money at trackdays, or a race-prepared car (factory-built or by you), we can provide specialist advice and components.
