Totalkitcar Live!
Marlin invited a few customers to come along with their cars to Totalkitcarlive! at Brands Hatch. Dylan turned up in his recently beautifully finished 5EXi which has proved to be perfect for road and track use. He had a wonderful day and has now decided that he would like to race a EXi for next season. We are looking into seeing if we can work out a suitable package for him...so watch this space. You can view an extract from his email to me below.

Paul Hill, a Sportster owner, also turned up in his immaculate, award winning V8 Sportster (see picture) along with Ted Potter, Marion & son Robert who own a gorgeous BMW M3 Sportster. Finally Mike Griffin, who is building a 5EXi, came along for the day. As an amateur ex- racing driver he had a great day out and is now hooked and also hoping to compete next year... also see email from Mike below.

Unfortunately I had a terrible migraine that day so my apologies to all of you that I had hoped to see and take out on the track. I was extremely ill all day and could do nothing more than sleep & be ill!!! A very big thank-you to all those wonderful customers above who helped out on the stand and supported Mark while he rushed around taking people out on the track.

Kind Regards Terry

Hi Terry,

Hope your migraine is now gone and that you lot had a safe journey home?
Just wanted to say thanks for inviting me to be your 'honorary guest' at the show.. I had a fabulous time talking to the crowd and taking people out for rides.. Always fun to see their scared faces whilst sliding around corners

It was fun going out with Mark and Mike and giving the crowd a little 3 x 5EXi demo on the track.. Interesting how my car turned out to be so different to your two demonstrators - admittedly a complete fluke that I got it so right and so nicely balanced.. The mystery is still to be unfolded whether its to do with the different front springs that I put on, damper settings, tyre pressures, seat position, rear camber, car height, etc, etc but I'm sure we'll find the reason why so that we can share this with the other builders out there

Please remind Mark that I'm game to meet up again someplace to do some experimenting on the car setups for 'scientific research' purposes

Finally and most importantly I look forward to getting your thoughts on the race ideas and arrangements, costs, dates, etc, etc.. As you can tell by now I'm very interested so it should just come down to sorting out the practicalities..

Speak soon.
Dylan

Hi Mark & Terry

Just a note for your website to say what a brilliant day it was at Brands.
Meeting other car owners was very helpful and experiencing the car around the circuit certainly showed what the car was capable of in not only a safe environment but it was legal with no speed cameras or funny bright coloured cars with blue flashing lights chasing us. Turning in at Paddock at 110mph certainly made me appreciate why you need a race suit, I thought the cushioning was for fire protection from the outside of me? Oh and I promise that brown mark I left on the car was from my shoe. Sorry.

The car responded well and having the chance to experience cars built by others, thanks Dillon, not only gave me new ideas about how to finish my car but also showed how the performance can vary without any apparent reason. It has inspired me to get the most out of mine and I will be emailing other owners to get all the best ideas together.

On that note it would be great if more owners would bring their cars to track days where we could exchange ideas and experience each others vehicles as passengers, I am sure we would all get lots of benefits from meeting up.
So here is to another successful day at Donnington on the 15th & 16th October and once again thanks.

Michael Griffin
