Marks Day - Marlin Open day is getting into full swing Raising Money in loving memory of Mark.
The day will also be about raising money for two charities that were very close to Mark’s heart, http://www.ammf.org.uk/ the only charity which supports those suffering from Cholangiocarcinoma, the bile duct cancer that Mark had and http://www.hospiscare.co.uk/ a local Exeter based Devon charity, to say a big thank you for all their support.
Memorial area. We are creating a memorial area, which I hope will become a place for people to sit or walk around and feel close to Mark. I welcome any contributions and am expecting all sorts including bits of cars/ motor bikes, weird and wonderful plants or anything that reminds you of Mark … mind you he would probably have a fit if it turns into a junk yard lol.
Food & Drink a plenty. I am so lucky to know so many wonderful people and already we have been promised tents from the Marines, A hog roast, a BBQ, also run by Marine chefs plus a Pimms/cider/beer tent and possible bar.
Stalls and entertainment. There will be an indoor stall area to try your hand at guess the weight of an engine part ;-) sweets in jars, possible tombola, fete type games, raffle and much more. There will be the opportunity to try your hand at clay pigeon shooting and I plan to have a fun remote control car racing area, where you can see how good your skills are at racing around some hay bales…. this of course will be scored ‘Top Gear’ style.
Children are also catered for with a disco bouncy castle; outdoor games and we will have an area set up for face painting, applying sparkly tattoos & craft table.
On Line Auction. There is an on-line aution now live with final bids for on the day. Top prize so far is tickets to F1 Silverstone next year, also tickets to Goodwood Festival of Speed, Autosport Car Show and Radio 2’s Car Fest day plus loads of donations from local businesses I f you would like to contribute please email me. You can keep up to date via Facebook www.facebook.com/events/1413499055639833/
Marlin Owners Cars. Of course the day would not be complete without opening the doors to all our Marlin owners and it will be a great opportunity to see so many of these cars, including of course the wonderful ‘Avatar One’ that Mark finally managed to complete weeks before he passed after so many years in the making.
Quite a legacy from such a quiet, thoughtful but brilliant man.
