Qualifying
Wet and miserable - much like the last time.. This time we brought 'road' rain tires which made a big difference (shaved off 10 seconds of our lap times compared to last time) but we were still no match to Ferrari traction control and wide tires!
Yet again - we both qualified towards the back of the grid - me taking up 8th place in our class, closely followed by Mark in 9th (out of 12)!
Race
Weather was a bit 'touch and go' throughout the day.. We decided to brave it and put slick tires about 15 minutes before the race (funny picture of rain starting to fall with us taking rain tires off!).
Anyway, the weather held up and we had a dry race...
We were both quite good off the line, overtaking a few cars and catching up with the mighty Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradalles and putting up a bit of a fight during the first few corners (and then seeing them slowly pull away from us).
At that point I was running in 7th place and in quite a race with a Caterham 7 (you have to watch the video - plenty of overtaking action)!
Soon after a Ferrari span off, treating me to 6th position..
Sadly, on lap 8 my engine could not take any more abuse from me and made a big bang (breaking my camshaft in about 20 pieces - making the engine ready for the scrap yard). And that was that - I was forced to pull off into the grass and watch the others finish the race..
Mark managed to keep going and ended up 6th in class - annoyingly scoring another point! ;-)
