Have an easier day at the races
FOLLOWING their success on the circuit last season, Marlin are now offering complete race support packages to other drivers. Marlin, who have been designing and building sportscars for 17 years, successfully campaigned two of their Honda-powered 5EXi sportscars in the 2007 Castle Combe Special GT Championship. Now they are offering a complete race support package to anyone planning to race in the Castle Combe championship in 2008.
“It takes a lot of work to get a race car on the circuit and keep it there,” said Marlin’s Mark Matthews. “If you’re new to racing, or if you’re not an experienced mechanic with all the right facilities and equipment, it can be a struggle to prepare, repair, maintain and transport the car. “We can offer a race support package tailored to the individual needs of the competitor.”
Services on offer from Marlin include: transport to and from the circuit, pre-race check, trackside trouble-shooting, repair and maintenance between meetings, and secure car storage. For first-time racers, the Marlin race support package is invaluable, providing help and support wherever required, including advice on basics like sourcing race wear, preparing for and taking the ARDS test, and getting that first race entry in on time.
“We can also organise track time, and be there to support them, so they can get to know their car before their first race,” said Mark.
And, for those who don’t already have one, Marlin can provide the car. One of their Marlin 5EXi’s has been raced for two seasons on a ‘turn–up-and-race’ basis, by a London-based IT expert paying for Marlin to have the car at the circuit, ready to race. They are now extending this service to other cars, and will source, prepare, maintain and transport a car for selected races at Castle Combe and other venues. Said Mark: “We can take the hassle out of going racing. We all love the practice and racing, but not everyone has the time, resources or expertise necessary to maintain and develop their racing cars. “Marlin Racing can provide a hassle-free support package, at a very reasonable cost, leaving the driver to do just that – drive.”
